WooCommerce: Search Orders By SKU @ Admin

Exactly. By default, when you search for orders in the WordPress > WooCommerce > Orders backend, using a SKU will give you 0 results. Which is pretty poor for a store manager.

Let’s change this. Despite the code is a little complex, all you need is a simple copy & paste. Enjoy!

Searching for “cwoo2” (a SKU) returns no orders. Pity, because “cwoo2” is one of my WooCommerce product SKUs.

Once the snippet is active, and for the same search query as per the previous screenshot, here’s the result:

Searching for “cwoo2” now returns 15 results. Success!

Where to add this snippet?

You can place PHP snippets at the bottom of your child theme functions.php file (delete "?>" if you have it there). CSS, on the other hand, goes in your child theme style.css file.     I’ve had this snippet in place for a few months now but it seems to have stopped working. Copied it and updated my snippet to make sure that it wasn’t a typo etc. Still, no luck.

    All products have SKUs, whether a variation, subscription, regular product etc.

    I’m also using the code snippets plugin, fyi.

    Hi – I need help with something similar – we have an Amazon module that imports the Amazon order IDs to wp_posts table (column: post_excerpt) – so I need a snippet that shows me results from this table / column when searching backend orders – so we can search for those Amazon order IDs in orders. Any help is highly appreciated… we haven’t get it working so far. Thanks!!

    Not working for me. My SKUs are setup in Product Variations. Maybe that’s why I still can’t search by SKU. Would you know how to modify the code that I can search the variation SKUs in Orders admin?

    The snippet works great. A quick question. How can I update this, so that it lists all items with a partial SKU?

    Meaning, for example I have an SKU of LS14350-1 and LS14350-2.
    Inputting LS14350 should output both.
